Headlight restoration, answered

Frequently asked questions.

Everything drivers ask before booking a mobile headlight restoration in Battle Ground or Vancouver, WA — how long the clarity holds, what the premium UV sealant upgrade adds, and how the visit, warranty, and payment actually work.

How long will my restored headlights stay clear?

A properly sanded, compounded, and UV-sealed lens typically holds its clarity for 2–3 years of everyday driving. Cars that sit in direct sun all day, run through harsh detergents, or live near salt air tend to come back a bit sooner; a covered garage stretches the interval. Every job ships with a 12-month clarity warranty, so if the lens hazes back under normal use within a year, we re-seal it on the house.

Is this cheaper than replacing the headlight assemblies?

Yes — by a wide margin. A new pair of OEM headlight assemblies runs roughly $350–$900 per vehicle before labor, and many vehicles require partial bumper removal to swap them. A restoration visits your driveway, restores the lenses you already have, and runs $69 for a full pair. Functionally it returns the same clarity, costs a fraction of replacement, and keeps the original factory lenses on the car.

How long does a restoration visit take?

Plan on about 60 minutes for a single lens and closer to 90 minutes for a full pair. We mask the surrounding paint, run the progressive sanding pass, machine-compound and polish the lens, and lay down the UV-resistant sealant before the keys go back in your hand. Most of our jobs are done inside that window on the same visit.

Will my headlights yellow again after the restoration?

Eventually, yes — polycarbonate hazes under UV no matter what you do. What slows it dramatically is the UV-resistant clear-coat sealant we lay down at the end of every job. That sealant is the same kind of chemistry the factory lens shipped with, and it is what the 12-month clarity warranty is actually backing. If you want even longer protection, the optional Premium UV-Protective Ceramic Sealant stacks a ceramic top-coat over the standard sealant to slow re-yellowing further and add a hydrophobic finish that helps road grime wash off.

What does the Premium UV-Protective Ceramic Sealant upgrade add?

It is a higher-margin ceramic top-coat that bonds over the standard UV-resistant sealant and stacks onto any tier ($25 add-on). The ceramic layer is designed to slow re-yellowing, oxidation, and haze, and to shed water and road grime more easily. It is the recommended upgrade for cars that park outside year-round, sit in salt-air areas along the Columbia, or see heavy summer sun.

Battle Ground, Hockinson, Brush Prairie, and Meadow Glade are part of our regular route; Hazel Dell, Salmon Creek, Cascade Park, Orchards, and Mill Plain anchor the Vancouver, WA side. How should I prep for the appointment?

Just make sure the car is parked where we can reach it — your driveway, your workplace lot, or a similar flat, open spot. Clear a few feet around the front of the car so we can set up the generator, the sander, and our lighting. Take anything fragile off the dashboard and out of the engine bay area; we will mask the surrounding paint and trim before any abrasive touches the lens. That is really all there is to it.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Cancel or reschedule for free up to 24 hours before the appointment. Inside 24 hours, a small rescheduling fee applies because we block the whole hour for you on the route. We send a reminder the day before so most reschedules happen with plenty of notice. The full cancellation and refund terms are spelled out on the booking page and in /legal/terms.

What does the 12-month clarity warranty actually cover?

If a lens hazes, yellows, or clouds back under normal driving conditions within 12 months of the restoration, we come back and re-seal it at no charge. The warranty covers the sealant layer and the clarity of the lens itself; it does not cover physical damage from a collision, road debris cracking the lens, or aftermarket modifications. The terms are documented in /legal/terms, and we file a matched set of before-and-after photos on every job so the warranty claim has a clean baseline.

How do I pay — and when?

Payment runs through a secure Stripe checkout after you confirm the booking tier on /booking. You can pay by card or by most major mobile wallets. We do not run a deposit up front; the charge clears once the visit is on the schedule. A detailed invoice arrives by email after the job, and the payment confirmation page lets you download a copy for your records.

Do you have a shop, or is this only mobile?

Mobile only — that is the whole model. We bring the generator, the sander and polisher, the UV sealant, and the lighting to your driveway or workplace lot, so there is no shop drop-off, no waiting room, and no rental car. A standard household outlet is not required; the rig carries its own power, and we work anywhere a car can park.
